Former Halifax Mooseheads goaltender Mathieu Corbeil has signed a minor-league contract with the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves.

Corbeil was a fourth-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2010 who became a free agent when he was not signed by the NHL club earlier this summer.

The 20-year-old posted sensational numbers en route to a QMJHL title with the Saint John Sea Dogs last season, posting a 2.38 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. He won the Jacques Plante Trophy for having the league’s best GAA and was a second-team all-star.

Corbeil is fifth all-time in Mooseheads history with 99 games played, third in goals allowed with 334 and is tied for first in losses with Jean-Sebastien Giguere with 69.
