Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, Jeunesse Hosein came to Canada following an arranged marriage.

Working as a records clerk and raising a daughter, Jeunesse realized she wanted more out of life. She left her arranged marriage and began studying to become a lawyer.

Funding her education through grants, bursaries and part-time jobs, the single mother even had to go on social assistance to make ends meet.

Finally, after many years of hardship, Hosein became a successful prosecutor and now runs her own practice.

“Keep focused on your goals because it helps through times of stress and negativity. Live now and don’t forget to laugh. It is the cure for almost everything on earth,” she said.
