Since police and insurance companies can be of scant value when it comes sorting out hijinx on Russian roads, many drivers arm themselves with dashboard cameras in case they need to be handy to the evidence one day. Luckily for us, Russians have a pretty solid track record with video cameras, so this proliferation of extra eyes on the road has the sweet bonus effect of revealing a wealth of treacherously snowy highways, one-sided fistfights and the occasional small-scale explosion.

Sadly, after combing news of last week’s marathon voting in Ottawa, we failed to come across an amendment mandating dash cams in Canada. Surely, we could all put our Big Brother fears aside in order to get gather similarly rich document of life on the roads of our own country.
