For the final Lunch Rush column, my editor asked me to write about my favourite place to eat in Winnipeg. It’s hard for me to choose but I will tell you that Dessert Sinsations is one.
This little restaurant has consistently provided great service, food and atmosphere. I frequently order the Bacon White Cheddar Burger ($13.75) with a side of Sweet Potato Fries ($5.50) but this time, the eatery was having a Mexican special so I decided to try it.
The Cheese Enchilada with Anjo Chicken ($17) was stuffed full of tender chicken, grilled corn, re-fried beans and had a kick in the face spice topped with a chunky mole. It came with a side of red rice and shredded lettuce.
I also tried the Margarita Cheesecake ($9.25), which was the closest representation of a cocktail in food form I’ve come across yet. It was citrusy, refreshing and light — just like the drink.
If you haven’t tried Dessert Sinsations I recommend that you do.
