They say the Year of the Dragon is to bring unpredictable results for 2012 and it looks like they might be right.
I went to Sun Fortune Restaurant for lunch, hearing that it had authentic Hong Kong cuisine. My family lived in Hong Kong for five years and I was hoping to have found a true Cantonese restaurant in the city. What I got was as unpredictable as this year is projected to become.
I had the BBQ with Wonton Noodle Soup ($9.50), a hearty soup bowl of firm curly noodles, tender duck and pork in a flavourful broth. Also very tasty was the Eggplant Yee Mein with Chinese Anchovy and Ground Pork ($11.95), a chef’s specialty.
Disappointingly, I also ate the Chinese Vegetables ($9.95), which were fibrous; the Sweet and Sour Shrimp ($12.95), an unimaginative dish drenched in bottled sauce; and oily Spring Rolls ($1.25).
Although my meal was hit and miss, I hope my year will be more balanced. Gung Hay Fat Choy!
