Pasticceria Gelateria Italiana (PGI) is a mouthful. I lovingly refer to it as the gelato place on Preston, but it has more than gelato to offer. With a covered patio, you can enjoy your lunch outside along with the din of Preston Street traffic or stay inside at one of the many tables for four.
The coffee bar includes regular java favourites along with unique Italian beverages. I ordered a passion fruit Italian soda that was refreshing.
For lunch, there are always several specials from which to choose.
The Spinach and Ricotta-Filled Manicotti came with a fill-the-side-plate-sized bun, but it tasted airy and stale.
The manicotti was made with love and fresh ingredients and the combination was tasty. My only complaint was seasoning and temperature: More salt and heat would have made it perfect.
For dessert, cannoli is made to order. It was filled with cream, and was crunchy and sweet.
PGI is a destination for a taste of Italy and gelato.
