I recently returned from a trip to Europe where I saw many beautiful sights and tasted some amazing food. But, for the life of me, I could not locate a delicious bowl of Pho!
Since pho is a bona fide cure for jet lag (of course!), upon my return to Calgary my lunch date and I headed straight to Nho Saigon for a bite to eat.
We started out with some Jicama Rolls ($4.75). Filled with Chinese sausage, jicama, cooked egg and noodles, these little guys were definitely a step up from typical salad rolls.
Moving onto the pho, I ordered the Peanut Sate Soup with Beef, Pho Bo Sate ($8.50).
Here its broth finds a perfect balance between sweet, spicy and nuttiness with generous portions of sliced rare beef and noodles in the bowl, soaking up the liquid goodness.
It’s good to be home, Calgary, it’s good to be home!
