It’s hard to decide where to eat on the bustling Stephen Avenue during lunch hour. I generally check out multiple menus and let my stomach be the guide.
What first intrigued me about Libertine’s menu was the fact that it offers deviled eggs ($5.50) as an appetizer.
Since this is a rarity to find on a restaurant’s menu these days, my friend and I decided to order some to start. Topped with some crispy chunks of bacon, we devoured them quickly.
For my lunch, I had The Libertine’s Grilled Duck Clubhouse ($16) with a simple side salad. Roast duck, red onions, bacon, stout cheddar, lettuce and tomato were stuffed between two toasted pieces of marble rye bread. A sweet red pepper jelly brought it all together.
I rarely go crazy over sandwiches, but this was, most definitely, the best clubhouse I’ve had in Calgary.
Oh yeah, there’s a great beer selection too!
