Travis Randell

Fans of the Halifax Mooseheads haven’t seen a playoff victory since April 11, 2008, almost four full years ago.

Co-MVPs Nathan MacKinnon and Zach Fucale were just 12 years old when that happened, while forward/defenceman Travis Randell was a rookie on a squad led by Jakub Voracek and Brad Marchand.

With better than average ticket pre-sales, the Mooseheads want to end the drought on home ice this weekend and forget about it.

“Hopefully we can break that streak,” said Mooseheads centre Nathan MacKinnon. “Obviously it’s not a streak we’re proud of, but we’re going to try to come out and get as many wins as we can.”

The Mooseheads’ last home playoff win came in the 2008 quarter-finals when they defeated the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 5-2. They went on to be swept by the Gatineau Olympiques in the semifinals.

Halifax missed the playoffs in 2008-09 and 2009-10 and was swept 4-0 by the Montreal Juniors in the first round last season.
