Quinnel Brown’s shot as time was expiring before half court that banked in off the backboard gave the Halifax Rainmen a dramatic 90-87 victory over the Oshawa Power in National Basketball League of Canada action before more than 2,000 fans at the Metro Centre on Friday night.
The win moves Halifax above the .500 mark at 6-5.
Seconds before Brown’s buzzer beater, Rainmen guard Joey Haywood tied the game on a three-pointer with just three seconds left in regulation time.
On Oshawa’s next possession, the Power turned the ball over and Brown let go the winning shot.
Forward Antoine Tisby had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the way for Halifax. Brown finished with 14 points, while Haywood and Hillary Haley each netted 13. Point guard Josiah Turner had eight points, seven rebounds and a season-high 11 assists.
The Rainmen are back in action Saturday night when they host the Saint John Mill Rats at 7 p.m.
