The revamping of the Halifax Rainmen roster continues.
The club announced Wednesday the signing of shooting guard Reed Baker, a standout at Florida Gulf Coast University who is fourth in career points with 876.
The move comes two days after Halifax signed guard Melvin Goins, a five-foot-11 guard who started for the University of Tennessee Volunteers, traded high-scoring point guard Darren Duncan to the Windsor Express and released forward Joel Smith.
“We are really excited to add Reed to our roster,” Halifax Rainmen owner and general manager Andre Levingston said in a release. “It is no secret we have struggled from scoring behind the arc this season, bringing Baker in will really help us.”
Baker has most recently played professional basketball in Bangkok, Thailand for the Cobras of the ASEAN Basketball League.
He has also played some pro ball in Turkey.
Reed will make his debut with the Rainmen on Saturday as the team hits the road road for a pair of weekend games. They’ll play the Oshawa Power on Saturday afternoon, then tangle with the first place and undefeated London Lightning on Sunday afternoon.
