The Halifax Rainmen have brought back another key player from last year’s run to the National Basketball League of Canada final.
The Rainmen signed six-foot-seven forward/centre Darnell Hugee on Thursday, bringing their roster count to four along with guards Joey Haywood, Brandon Robinson and Eddie Smith.
“His athleticism and defensive intensity was a huge part of the our success down the stretch last season,” said Rainmen owner Andre Levingston.
Hugee was a late-season signing who averaged 11.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in eight playoff contests. He was also assessed a team-leading 35 personal fouls.
The Rainmen open the NBL Canada season on Nov. 2 on the road against the Windsor Express.
