After drafting him in the first round in 2008 only to watch him head to the NFL, the Ticats have finally signed receiver Sam Giguere.
The signing of the highly regarded non- import prospect will change a whole bunch of things for the team, including the draft and, potentially, the ratio. The Ticats could now, potentially, play three Canadian receivers on offence with Giguere, Andy Fantuz and Dave Stala.
Here’s what head coach and director of football operations George Cortez said in a statement released Wednesday morning:
“We’re thrilled to add Samuel to our team. He’s a very talented receiver who upgrades our offence and provides our roster with another great Canadian player. We’re excited to see Samuel contribute in Hamilton this season and beyond.”
The team will be unveiling Giguere at a press conference later Wednesday.
