Erica Glasier portrays the special charm of Winnipeg with this photo titled Window Art, Pacific Avenue.

A newly launched United Way of Winnipeg website is giving city folks the chance to share photos of their neighbourhoods.

And it ultimately aims to make the city we love feel just a little smaller.

“I wanted people to be able to get a look at places they don’t get to spend a lot of time in,” explained site creator and photographer Erica Glasier of the United Way.

“It’ll give a glimpse into the neighbourhoods we don’t live in, travel through or work in every day.”

The site, called Winnipeg Is Beautiful, has been running for about a month.

Already, it has more than 100 photos posted with roughly 4,000 page views to date.

Glasier says many of the pictures posted are of Winnipeg’s downtown area.

But as the site grows, she’d like to see snaps of what makes Winnipeg’s suburbs beautiful, too.

“There’s so much development going on and it’s really, really exciting,” she said.

“I’d like to emphasize the changes that are happening in all parts of Winnipeg.”

The site also allows for comments and blog posts under each photo.

Glasier hopes this will help bring Winnipeggers together ‘ one of the United Way’s main missions.

“The website really is a perfect fit for the United Way.”
