A mother watched in horror as her vehicle was stolen on Wednesday with her young son in the backseat.

The 40 year old woman had gone to a house on Park Place East in Tuxedo when she left her Acura MDX running and her child in the backseat. While at the door, she turned to find a man in her vehicle who took off with it at a high rate of speed, said police.

The woman tried to chase the vehicle, but returned to the house where she called police.

The car was later found abandoned on Park Boulevard South. Her son was found by a local resident and was reunited with his mother unharmed. The woman’s purse and other belongings were stolen.

Police are looking for a white male, 20, with dark short hair and wearing dark clothing. He was seen earlier in a red or burgundy SUV.
