No one was injured following a fire that forced the evacuation of at least two businesses in the 1100 block of Main Street Thursday.

Firefighters arrived around 1:55 p.m. after employees in the Robin’s Donuts near the corner of Main Street and Redwood Avenue noticed a burning smell from inside a wall in the back of the business.

“We smelt some kind of plastic burning,” said employee Natalie Nolin. “All of a sudden the building just started smoking.”

The neighbouring Shoppers Drug Mart was also evacuated and part of Main Street was closed while fire crews put out the fire.

A damage estimate was not available by press time.
