The unusually warm winter and lack of snow hasn’t stopped sculptor Miguel Joyal from creating a large snow sculpture in front of 201 Portage Ave.
Joyal, who also created the bronze statue of Louis Riel that was unveiled at the Manitoba legislative building in 1996, tells Metro the snow needed to build his latest snow masterpiece had to be trucked in at a big cost.
The sculpture, which will be a tribute to the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers when finished, was commissioned by the owners of the building and is expected be completed by Friday.
