Occupy Winnipeg is on the verge of disappearing.
On Thursday, Natural Resource Officers placed a removal notice on the group’s yurt and two other tents.
Unlike similar notices issued last week, there is no reference to a re-inspection.
“This object is to be removed within 72 hours of this posting,” reads the most recent notices, citing a section from the Parks Act related to abandoned objects or vehicles.
Occupier Terry Weaymouth, who was at camp for the Thursday morning visit by two officers, said officers were not negotiating.
“There was no reasoning with him today,” Weaymouth said.
“I tried to tell him groups still meet in (the yurt). There’s supposed to be a woman’s caucus meeting in there this afternoon.”
Weaymouth said an officer told him the camp has been inspected daily, as well as at night, for more than a week, and the yurt only had a single person in it on one occasion.
Weaymouth said only he and one other person are camping in Memorial Park regularly now.
A spokesperson from the province said the site will continue to be monitored for safety, security and health reasons.
