A Winnipeg man was taken to hospital after a brutal carjacking in the North End.
Police said the man, 22 and a 24-year-old female passenger were inside his Chevy Silverado truck on Pacific Avenue at about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday when three to five men wearing masks approached the truck. While they were getting out of the truck, one of the males produced a shotgun and fired several rounds at the man during the getaway, striking the man twice, once in the upper body and once in the lower body
The carjackers also smashed into a parked car and ran over a fire hydrant. The victim was treated in hospital and released.
The truck was abandoned and recovered in a back lane a block away.
The Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
