The mini-heatwave in Winnipeg has prompted City of Winnipeg officials to open four spray pads early.

The River Heights, Provencher Park, Fort Rouge and Lindenwoods spray pads will open today.

A city spokeswoman said the reason these spray pads were chosen was because they do not require maintenance or staff, since the pads are automatically timed.

Other spray pads may open before the June 23 official date. Winnipeggers are asked to check the City of Winnipeg website or call 311 for more information.
