The Canadian Press Images Judy Wasylycia-Leis left her role as MP of Winnipeg North in 2009.

One of the front-runners from the 2010 civic election says she will be running again.

Judy Wasylycia-Leis sent out an invite to media Sunday inviting them to a press conference Tuesday to formally announce “that she is running to be the next Mayor of Winnipeg.”

The press conference, to be held at Wightman Green park at the corner of Ness Avenue and Linwood Street, will start at 11:30 a.m.

Wasylycia-Leis will be the seventh candidate to run for mayor, including U of M prof Robert-Falcon Ouellette, Coun. Paula Havixbeck, former councillor Gord Steeves, lawyer Brian Bowman, funeral director Mike Vogiatzakis and citizen Michel Filion. Blogger Gordon Warren filed paperwork to run but bowed out of the race on May 26.

Mayor Sam Katz has repeatedly said he will reveal sometime in June whether he will run again.

Wasylycia-Leis received 90,913 votes to Mayor Katz’s 116,308 in 2010.
