Metro/John Matisz London Knights forward Ryan Rupert hits the post against the Windsor Spitfires earlier this season.

A man from London, Ont. was assaulted in Windsor on Saturday by a zealous Spitfires fan.

According to police, the 23-year-old victim was visiting Windsor with his girlfriend for a friend’s birthday. Around 12:45 a.m, the couple asked a man near Pitt Street and Ferry Street for directions so that they could hail a cab.
