Police investigated another bomb threat near a Windsor-Detroit border crossing, Friday afternoon.
Officers searched the site of the former Old Palace Theatre, just steps away from the Detroit-Windsor tunnel, around 2:30 p.m. They gave the all-clear about a half hour later.
It was the fourth such incident in just over a week.
The first threat was called in to the Windsor Duty Free Shop at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel last week.
The second call came a few days later, but this time to the Detroit side. The threat was identified as being located on the Ambassador Bridge, and traffic was rerouted for hours as police searched for the alleged bomb.
Detroit police investigated a third threat Wednesday evening, but chose not to close down the Ambassador Bridge.
Instead, traffic continued to flow as officers scoured the area for potential threats.
The Windsor Police Service was notified, but took no action.
Police on the American side of the border suspect whoever called in Wednesday’s threat has made similar calls in the past. However, they couldn’t say whether that individual was connected to the previous two bomb threats.
