Canada’s cycling darling Ryder Hesjedal has put his champagne-stained pink jersey up for auction on ebay.

The Victoria native took home the jersey after winning the 2012 Giro d’Italia in May, becoming the first Canadian ever to win the month-long race.

A pink jersey is awarded to the top cyclist after each of the race’s 21 stages, and winners typically spray a bottle of champagne to commemorate their victory.

Hesjedal won the jersey after stages seven, eight, nine, 14 and 21. The stage seven jersey went up for auction Sunday night.

“This item is only slightly worn, and may have champagne residue!” reads the description on the jersey’s ebay page.

The cotton trophy, which bears Hesjedal’s autograph, was going for an impressive US$4,350 by 9:30 Monday morning.

It was put up for auction by Wheelmen Ride Bicycles and donated by Hesjedal himself. All proceeds will go to the Ryders Cycling Society of Canada.

Bidding closes at 9:15 PDT on June 20, which is opening day of the Tour de France. Hesjedal announced lasted week that he will compete in the 99th edition of the cross-country race.
