Investigators say North Vancouver’s first homicide victim of the year is not known to police.

A 69-year-old man was shot dead at home, in the 4000 block of St. Georges Avenue, Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the residence at 1:18 p.m. but attempts to save the man’s life failed.

On Sunday, police identified the victim as Rostam Poulad-Noshiravan.

“He’s not known to police and it’s a bit more challenging to investigate because we don’t have an obvious motive,” said RCMP Integrated Homicide Investigation Team spokesperson Sgt. Bari Emam.

“The victim’s family are shocked by this incident and also hoping that tips from the public and those who may know something can assist the investigators in getting some answers.”

A suspect has not been identified, but IHIT say a grey or silver import-style car was send driving away from the crime scene.

The shooting marks the first murder in North Vancouver this year.
