Vancouver police have created a “fact sheet” to let marginalized people know how the 2010 Games may impact their lives, Chief Const. Jim Chu announced Wednesday.

The Frequently Asked Security Questions, which gives short answers about searches, protests and the displacement of homeless people around venues, has been posted on the department’s website for the past couple of months.

But Vancouver police are now looking at more direct ways of getting it into the hands of the people.

“We’re looking at other means to distribute it to some of the more marginalized people who don’t have access to common media,” said Const. Jana McGuinness, a VPD spokeswoman.

“Whether that’s through beat officers handing it out, or whether it gets posted in the Downtown Eastside, we’re looking at ways to disseminate it.”

The two-page sheet answers questions about whether Canadian Forces will patrol the streets, whether people will be searched in the public domain and where security cameras will be installed.

The fact sheet also has a police contact to deal with concerns from Downtown Eastside residents.
