Want to get fit Gangnam Style?
Richmond’s Sunberryfitness is offering health buffs a chance to saddle up and ride to South Korean rapper Psy’s hit Gangnam Style. His music video has racked up almost 200 million YouTube views since July.
Studio manager Nancy Lin said due to popular demand, a second cardio dance fitness class Tuesday was made to accommodate all the people eager to learn the wacky horse-riding dance.
One of the regulars had even arranged for a babysitter ahead of time so she wouldn’t miss the class that would have 20 to 25 people, she added.
“The music video has a lot of comedy injected to it, not purely choreography so (instructor Lisa Kirby) will be injecting a lot of her own choreography mixed with the signature horse-riding move,” Lin said.
Psy appeared last week with Britney Spears on Ellen DeGeneres’ show to offer the two women a one-on-one dance lesson where he told them that the secret of the dance is to “dress classy and dance cheesy.”
And Lin said participants can definitely dress the part.
“Lisa might bring a blazer just to wear for the day and we asked a lot of people if they want to bring in sunglasses, they can definitely do that,” she added.
The two Gangnam Style cardio dance fitness classes will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at 208-8171 Park Road. It’s $12 for drop-ins and $6 for first-time visitors.
