A grenade launcher was seized by Mounties during a raid Wednesday morning at a Nanaimo motel.

A 28-year-old man, and two women, aged 29 and 32, were arrested after members of the emergency response team entered a room around 10 a.m. when investigators learned that guests at the motel were possibly armed.

One of the women was arrested at the scene, while the man and the second women were arrested at a different location shortly afterwards.

The grenade launcher, which can be attached to the barrel of a rifle, was the only weapon found in the motel room.

Investigators are now trying to determine whether the weapon was stolen.
