The OPP is reporting a significant drop in impaired driving charges and suspensions during their Festive R.I.D.E. campaign, which ended Thursday.

From Nov. 23 to Jan. 2, a total of 578 impaired driving charges were laid throughout the province, compared to 693 last year. The OPP also suspended 481 drivers, compared to 625 last year.

In a news release, the OPP said it is pleased to see lower numbers in both categories, but this year’s charges still serve as a reminder that a small number of impaired drivers threatened the lives of other road users over the holidays.
