Today is officially considered the shortest day of the year, which we’re sure means a great deal to you as you sit there watching the night sky infiltrate your office window at 4:30 p.m.

But, hey! Did you know North America also experienced a lunar eclipse early this morning? That makes it the first time a blood red moon will coincide with the winter solstice in almost 400 years. Eerie. Which also means the last group of winter-weary folks who got a chance to experience this double whammy were still getting banished to the colonies for heresy.

Technically, we’re already in the colonies. So curse the frigid temperatures to your heart’s content.
