The University of Saskatchewan Huskies improved their record to 2–1 after a 39-34 win against the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds over the weekend.

The Huskies managed to maintain the lead for the majority of the first half during Saturday’s game, but in the third quarter, UBC came back leading 24-22 by the end of the third, before going up 31-22 early in the fourth.

In the end it was two touchdowns in the fourth quarter that sealed the deal for the Huskies as the team managed to fight their was back after quarterback, Drew Burko completed a 48-yard pass to wide-receiver Kit Hillis and a 15-yard pass to wide-receiver Mitch Stevens.

In total, Burko managed to throw 328 yards against the UBC Thunderbirds who are still after their first win of the season.

The U of S Huskies next game is against their provincial rivals, the University of Regina Rams Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.
