The University of Saskatchewan Huskies upcoming game against the University of Manitoba Bisons will be an important one for the team’s playoff hopes.

Huskies head coach, Brian Towriss noted anytime the Huskies and the Bisons hit the field, it’s going to be an interesting game.

“We’ve had some big games against them in the last little while, a couple of conference championships and they play well against us, they always have,” said Towriss. “We’re going to have to be on our toes … a win here can go a long ways in taking a step towards a playoff down the road.”

Towriss said the Huskies will also be coming up against a ramped up group of Bison, something he hopes his team can match, as this game will be an important one in terms of the Huskies’ confidence on the road.

“It’s been a long time since (the Bisons) have won their first game of the year, so they’re going to be fired up and we have to match their enthusiasm at the start,” said Towriss. “Winnipeg is always a tough place to play, they’re a much different team at home than they are on the road, they play with a lot more confidence.”

“This one’s important and I think we match up pretty well,” he said. “We’re playing more consistent than we were at this time last year and we’re excited and ready to get down there.”

Kick off is at 1 p.m. Saturday at University Stadium in Winnipeg.
