The Saskatoon Hilltops walked away with their second win of the season against the Edmonton Huskies Sunday afternoon.
Taking the game 36 to 10, head coach Tom Sargeant said it was the team’s strong combination of defense and offense that helped secure the win.
“We’re very pleased with this performance and it’s a game film we can send out and be proud about,” said Sargeant. “We only play these guy’s once this year, so this win was huge in terms of the standings and head-to-head, every game is important—especially when you’re playing at home.”
He explained, “Defense played exceptional today [and] offense, we we’re great between the 20 and 20, we just couldn’t finish, but as I said it’s a long process and we’ll keep working and digging to improve the product we have.”
Sargeant also said the defense is something that’s improving every game.
“They played a lot smarter, they played real hard and they got after things,” said Sargeant. “I’ve been hard on them all week, the coaches have been as well and real happy about how they stepped up their game.”
One of the receivers who had his hands on the ball quite a bit was Kyle McGinnis.
