Metro/Morgan Modjeski Police on scene investigating a homicide after the shooting of Macdonald George, 31, on May 21 in Downtown Saskatoon. A preliminary inquiry has been set for the man charged with George’s murder.

Senior crown prosecutor, Melodi Kujawa told a provincial judge on Thursday the prosecution is ready to go to trial in regards to murder charges in the death of MacDonald George, who was shot in downtown Saskatoon on May 21.

However, defense attorney Nicholas Stooshinoff, who is representing Shamsa Abdulkadir Noor, 24, who has been charged with second-degree murder, asked for the matter to be adjourned until Aug. 22, at which time the defense may enter a plea. A date could also be set at this time.

Stooshinoff also said he’ll be meeting with Noor’s family members on Aug. 8. When asked how they reacted to the charges, he explained, “It’s their sibling, they’re very upset.”
