It’s Labour Day weekend- time to pack away your whites and squeeze the last bit of warmth from the air. There’s a little something for everyone as the Queen City has a wide selection of events on the menu.
On Saturday, the Dragon Boat Festival will be going on all day in Wascana Park. There will be children’s entertainment, a beer garden, and of course, the races.
That night, you can watch the girls of Pile O’ Bones glide in an oval formation while crushing each other. The All-Stars Roller Derby starts at 7 p.m. and features the Regina’s Sugar Skulls versus E-Ville Dead from Edmonton. The bout’s followed by a cabaret featuring What Ever and DJ Philly.
On Sunday, take the kids or just go yourselves to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum for the presentation “Tales of the Trickster.” It features different creation myths from First Nation traditions.
Afterwards, you can cheer on the Riders at 2 p.m. as they take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Suggestion – get the manicure after the game.
The weekend’s topped off with a Labour Day family picnic in the park, hosted by the Regina & District Labour Council.
