Mayor Larry O’Brien yesterday released his economic growth plan for Ottawa, which includes setting up an independent economic development corporation to attract investment.
“This is a job for business leaders, not bureaucrats,” he said, “which is why I will create an economic development corporation that boasts the resources, clout and access to search out and seal the deals that come our way. This corporation will show that Ottawa is serious about its economic future.”
He declined to speculate on the corporation’s budget or what it would cost to set up.
“There’s a difference between vision and practical implementation,” he said.
