Fans of formal wear and outdoor eating geared up for the Harvest Noir outside the National Gallery Wednesday.
“I wanted to be part of a community event with a little bit of style,” said Christine Constantin, who plans to attend the outdoor picnic for the first time this year. “It’s a good opportunity to meet people in the city from different age groups and backgrounds.”
The “fashion.mob” is one in a series of fun flash-mobs leading up to the big day Sept 30, said Harvest Noir co-organizer Greg Searle. “It’s a little taste of what to expect. Ottawa didn’t have a chic picnic like a lot of other international cities.”
Searle said that this year he expects a crowd of 1,000 over last year’s 760-person gathering on the grounds of the Civilization Museum. “We already have 200 people on our email list for the flash mobs,” he said.
Harvest Noir takes place September 30 at an undisclosed location which will be emailed to guests the day of the event. Tickets are $55.
