Metro/Graham Lanktree From left, Escapade Music Festival organizers Aydin Kharaghani, Michael O’Farrell, Nick Orphanos and Nick Vachon are seen at a preview event hamming it up for the camera June 18.

A promoter of last weekend’s Escapade Music Festival says $600,000 is missing from the event’s proceeds and he’s reported the theft to police.

Michael O’Farrell, vice-president of marketing, said he was shocked to see the money missing Monday afternoon following a “successful,” third edition of the electronic dance music event.

He said his partner, Nick Vachon, is also missing and he has not seen or heard from him since 3 a.m. Monday, when the event ended.

“I’m speechless,” said O’Farrell. “I don’t know why anybody in the right mind would do something like this.”

Escapade took place June 30 to July 1 at the Ottawa Stadium on Coventry Road.

Ottawa police would not confirm or deny an investigation is ongoing, but O’Farrell said he expects police will issue an arrest warrant soon.
