Hear a story or spin one of your own Friday night as the Ottawa Storytellers present Once Upon A Slam at the Mercury Lounge Underground (a.k.a. Bar 56).

Once Upon A Slam is Ottawa’s new story slam series featuring narrative stories of all kinds.

Each performer has five minutes to tell a story, whether ghost story, fairy tale or personal yarn.

Judges randomly selected from the audience rate the performances. Admission is $7 and free for slam participants.

Registration starts at 7 p.m. and the stories begin at 7:30. Professional storyteller Kim Kilpatrick follows the slam with a one-hour show.
