A retired London couple has won $17.4 million by choosing the correct Lotto 6/49 jackpot number.

Melvin Knight, 73, and Audrey Gill, 60, both of London, went through the prize claiming process Tuesday in Toronto.

They had purchased the ticket Saturday night, checked if they had won Sunday, but did not contact the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation until Tuesday.

The ticket was sold at a Mac’s convenience store on Trafalgar Street in London, says OLG spokesperson Barbara Davis.

The winning number was 9-28-35-36-48-49.

Two winning tickets — one in Ajax and one in Toronto — were sold for the draw’s second prize. Those ticket-holders will receive $124,408 each.
