A familiar face from the much-loved science fiction show Firefly is ready to meet his fans in London.
Ron Glass, who played Shepherd Book in the short-lived Joss Whedon show, will be at the Forest City Comicon on Sunday, Oct. 19.
Also known for playing Detective Harris in Barney Miller in the 70s – a role that won him two Emmy nominations – Glass will give a talk, meet fans, sign autographs and more.
More guests are still to be announced, said John Houghton, spokesman for the event organizers.
“We’re really excited to be having him,” Houghton said about the Glass announcement. “It took a while to get everything organized. We’ve been working on it for several months here.
“We wanted to find the right fit for this growing convention and have a great event.”
Firefly commands serious loyalty among its fans, who still say its cancellation was cruel. It’s gone on to greater things on DVD, Netflix and more, and of course its creator, Joss Whedon, is now one of the most successful directors in Hollywood, helming the Avengers movie.
The London comicon has a range of attractions, Houghton said, including a Magic the Gathering card game tournament, video game elements, people in costume and panel discussions. It’s expected to fill all three levels of Centennial Hall.
