A Tatamagouche man faces charges after police say he drove through a picket line at the Metro Transit bus terminal in Dartmouth  Thursday, hitting two people.

Const. Kathryn Willett with Halifax Regional Police said officers responded to around 10:30 a.m.
Willett said a 55-year-old man was driving slowly down a bus lane towards Wyse Road where union workers had blocked the entrance to the terminal. When the protesters refused to move, the man allegedly plowed through and hit two men, ages 58 and 37.

Police say the driver took off but was arrested a short distance away. He is charged with assault with a weapon and fleeing the scene of an accident, but more charges could come after police review a security-camera tape, said Willett.

The 37-year-old man received minor injuries to his arm and elbow, but both men refused treatment from paramedics.

The accused has no connection to Metro Transit, she added. He is due in court on March 20.
