Police are investigating after a man was beaten with metal pipes in Dartmouth.

Officers were called to the scene and found a man lying on the sidewalk in the 300 block of Portland Street at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

He was suffering from head wounds. Police believe the wounds he suffered are non-life- threatening.

During the investigation, police discovered that the victim had agreed to talk to two men in an alleyway when they started beating him.

They were last seen running across Portland Street and taking a path from Lakefront Road to Joffre Street.

Both suspects are described as  men in their early 20s, with slim to medium builds.
