Two elderly women are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a pedestrian-vehicle accident Wednesday night.

The two women, aged 77 and 81, were walking across Purcell’s Cove Road in the 100 block, but not in a crosswalk. One lane of traffic stopped but a driver going the other way didn’t see them.

The driver was not injured and police are investigating.
