Edmonton has another mayoral contender who argues the only problem with the downtown arena is that it’s too small.
“I think it is a good investment for our city and I would actually like to make it a lot bigger than what they have proposed,” said Kristine Acielo
She said despite the city’s costs the deal will be beneficial in the long run.
“It is a really good deal. In the long run, we will create a lot more jobs and a lot more growth,” she said.
Acielo, who works in real estate, said she has volunteered on campaigns and initially thought about provincial or federal politics, but said she was convinced she needed to start at the local level.
“They told me to start small, I wanted to go into higher politics, but they told me to try mayor first,” she said.
