Metro/Laurie Callsen Edmonton Opera company members perform Aida during a dress rehearsal at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium Thursday.

The grand opera Aida, recreating the story of a love triangle of a young warrior caught between two princesses, premiers Friday as the 49th opener of the Edmonton Opera.

The Edmonton Opera’s performance includes over 100 performers, including chorus members, dancers and principal artists.

The opera also commemorates composer Verdi’s 200th birthday.

Performances run Friday, Sunday, Oct. 23 and Oct. 25.
