Edmonton police are saying the death of a man found severely injured north of downtown Monday afternoon is not a homicide.

EPS said Tuesday that a man found on 111 Avenue near 101 Street between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. died after he was taken to hospital by EMS.

Some reports indicate the man was potentially beaten and robbed of beer or coolers he had bought just down the street, but EPS said the medical examiner concluded the death was non-criminal.

But EPS has not yet released any information about the man, nor his death, and will not provide further updates.
