Cheaper evening parking may start earlier later this year, thanks to an inquiry by Coun. Jane Batty.

The change would be only for city-owned parkades. Batty said it is $2 to park for the evening starting at 6 p.m.; she would like 5 p.m. instead.

A report will come back in September.

The plan would be to eventually include other parking, but the city is looking at a “smart” meter system and potentially event-based prices for the future.
