Metro/Laurie Callsen Bob Hassel, EPS Supt. Criminal Investigations, addresses Edmonton media Friday during the search for Travis Brandon Baumgartner, 22, after an armed robbery and shooting at the University of Alberta than left three dead and one critically wounded.

The person of interest in the armed robbery and shooting of four people at the University of Alberta Hub Mall is facing three first-degree murder charges and one attempted murder charge, Edmonton police announced Friday.

Police are in the process of filing Canada-wide warrants against Travis Brandon Baumgartner, 22, of Edmonton.

“With the approval of the Crown, we now believe we have reasonable, probable grounds, that this is the person responsible for this horrific and terrible crime,” said Bob Hassel, EPS Supt. Criminal Investigations.

Media reports Friday say the deceased are Michelle Shegelski, Brian Ilesic and Eddie Rejano, while Matthew Schumm remains in hospital.

“We encourage anyone who may know of his whereabouts to please contact us immediately.”

Police say Baumgartner is armed and dangerous.

Hassel did not take questions from the media but said a further update will be provided at 9 p.m.
