A 35-year-old Edmonton woman who had more than 1,000 rabbits seized from a Terwillegar-area home in the spring of 2010 has been fined $8,500 and banned from pet stores.
Shelley Zenner was also banned from owning pets, except a dog or cat that must be spayed or neutered, a judge ruled Monday.
The woman, one of three charged after the rabbits were found in a south side home, also must attend two years of counseling.
Of the seized rabbits, 600 had to be destroyed.
Zenner pleaded guilty to one count of causing animals distress.
